My name is Andy Casey. I teach American History here at Mustang High School. I have been married to my beautiful wife Jan for 39 years. We have 2 children, my son Brandon, and my daughter Crystal. We also have a pet cat Sassy. In the summer 2009 my daughter and her husband A.J. gave birth to my first grandchild. Kaleb Cade made me a very proud Papa! In the spring of 2012 she gave birth to my second grandson, Kyson Matthew. My son blessed me with a new daughter-in-law in the summer of 2011 when he married his long time sweetheart Kirsten. Brandon and Kirsten added to the family with the birth of my first granddaughter. Piper Elizabeth was born in the summer of 2012, and in the summer of 2015 my second granddaughter Ruby Ellen joined the family. We now have a third granddaughter Josephine Judith (J.J.) was born in the spring of 2018.
I have a B.S. in Political Science Education from what is now known as the University of Central Oklahoma. Back in my day it was Central State University. This will be my 26th year teaching at Mustang High School. While at Mustang I have taught Oklahoma History, World History, Government, Economics, and American History. I have also coached Baseball, Football, and Track. My first two years of teaching were at Webster Middle School in Oklahoma City.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: After analyzing events in American history from 1878 to the present in such areas as political reform, industrialization, urbanization, ethnic acculturation and war, the student will be able to identify meaningful changes in his society, identify equal rights in that society, and help resolve conflict in this society based on the student’s search for change, equal rights and conflicts in the American past.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
The grade in this class will be calculated by the following weighted scale:
1.) 60% Quiz and Test
2.) 40% Daily Work
The grading scale is as follows:
A = 90 and above
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
D = 60-69
F = 59 and below
CLASS POLICIES
Absences: School policy states that you have one day to make up work for each day you are absent. You are responsible for notes and assignments, not the teacher. Most work/notes will be posted on my website. Please see me if you have questions about absent work. At my discretion, students who are absent on the day of the quiz or test may be given an alternate assessment that may differ from the format of the original.
Tardies: School policy states that three tardies are equal to one absence. For every three tardies you will be given detention.
Hall Passes: Will be given on an as needed basis. School policy states that you must have your student ID to use a hall pass. If you do not have your ID, you may use a pass and take a detention. No passes will be given to the vending machine or to visit other teachers during class time. Those things need to be done at a later time.
Electronic devices and belongings: All devices must be turned off and put away while you are in the classroom or detention will be given. All belongings, including backpacks, binders, and other class work, will be put at the back of the room during class time.
Late Work: Late work for each chapter will be accepted for full credit until the chapter retake exam is given. After that the grade will be recorded as a zero with no chance to make it up! The expectation of this class is that you are to do what is asked of you. If you choose not to turn in your assignments, you will be given a zero and may be assigned Academic Tutoring.
Mission For The Class Every student should gain a basic understanding of the events that have shaped the United States into what it is today. At the end of the year each student will be able to relate those events to our world today, and explore the consequences for the future.
